I know I said I was going to make the German Chocolate cake next, but man O man, I could not resist this Chocolate Fudge pudding cake. It is a simple cake recipe and has a warm gooey and fudgy center. I paired it with some whipped cream and cold glass of milk!
I think Mariska Hargitay said it best, “Chocolate is the first luxury. It has so many things wrapped up in it: deliciousness in the moment, childhood memories, and that grin-inducing feeling of getting a reward for being good”.
This chocolate fudge pudding cake has all that and more for me. I was smiling when making it, and definitely when tasting it. Even though many of my childhood memories revolve around any chocolate dessert I ever ate, I created some of my own with my kids while eating this.
After dinner tonight, I shared this gooey treat with Norah and Jacob. They gobbled up every bite quickly and even got a kick out of me spraying whipped cream in their mouths after every bite of this cake. The giggles I got out of them were priceless, and it was all centered on this chocolate fudge pudding cake!
How to make this pudding cake
What I love about this pudding cake is the simplicity of it. You don’t even need any hand held mixer to make it. Just your good old hand strength!
You start out by mixing together the flour, salt, baking powder, 1/2 cup of granulated sugar and 2 tbsp of Hershey’s cocoa powder. Put it in an 8×8 baking glassware dish. Set aside.
Then in a small mixing bowl, combine the milk, melted butter and vanilla extract. Pour on top of dry ingredients. The batter will be thick and sticky, so it is important that you spread well inside the dish.
Lastly, you combine the remaining 3 tbsp of cocoa, remaining granulated sugar and sprinkle onto batter in dish. Then pour hot water all over in dish.
Set 8×8 glassware baking dish inside a 9×13 cake pan filled with 2 in of water. Bake at 350 for 40 minutes.
